Holly and Brian’s Big Sky elopement was one of the more adventurous elopements I’ve photographed. The day prior they both ran The Rut race up Lone Peak which, from their description, was pretty intense. Lots of fast hiking with smaller spurts of running and a TON of elevation gain. Then they woke up at 5am the morning after to hike with me up to Beehive Basin, which is about 3 miles uphill. I have run marathons before the last thing I want to do the day after is wake up early and go on a big hike, but Holly and Brian were excellent sports. Holly is a wedding photographer, too, so she was extra motivated. 🙂 We timed the hike perfectly, arriving at the top just after sunrise. I carried Holly’s dress in my backpack and had to help her get into it while Brian waited across the pond for the first look. We played around with the sunrise and got a lot of great portraits before heading back down the mountain to meet their officiant at the bottom for a short wedding ceremony!
