Melissa and James’s wedding in Paradise Valley was my first at Sage Lodge and it was perfect! The weather was nice, the mountains were visible, we didn’t get any evening thunderstorms that hit Paradise Valley so often, and it was just serene and quiet. I suppose we did have a little wind to deal with during family portraits, but that wind also created veil and hair chaos during the ceremony which was quite fun!
As is a theme with most of my weddings, family was very important to both Melissa and James. This made the documentary perspective especially fun because I had grandparents to focus on in addition to a lot of out-of-state friends who were enjoying their first visit to Montana.
Also, I rarely talk about details, but this was my first time working with the coordinator, Katalin Green, and she was magnificent. If you’d like to see photos of her work send me a message and I’ll get you a link to the full gallery.
From Melissa and James’s questionnaire answer on why they chose Montana, you’ll see a pretty similar answer to similar excerpts I’ve taken in the past (2nd paragraph), but I really like this first paragraph:
“Montana is the first place we moved together after we got engaged, and it is now our home. It is the place where we feel like we have started to establish ourselves as a unit, as everyone here only knows us together–which is kind of awesome.
We also chose Paradise Valley because of its beauty. A lot of our guests will be visiting Montana for the first time for the wedding, and we really want to show off just how special Montana is.”
