Jessy and Dylan, like many this year, had big wedding plans but had to scale way back due to Covid-19. What they chose was a beautiful yard in an Airbnb up the Rattlesnake in Missoula. As Jessy indicated to me from the very beginning a year ago, one of the most important elements of the day was the attendance of her grandfather, so I kept one eye and ear peeled to him all day long. It was an emotional hand off after the procession and a fun reception with he and Dylan clinking glasses a few time (which also created a different vein of fun!).
The original portrait plan was on the hills overlooking Missoula, but northern California smoke sent us into the forest at the head of the Rattlesnake Wilderness. To me, a forest creates more intimate connections between a couple, which gave me exactly what I was hoping for when I was able to capture the sensitivity and compassion I was feeling from Dylan (second-to-last photo).
