Charlotte and Michael brought their wedding to the southern Bitterroot to make it easier for her grandmother Berdell to attend (though apparently grandma said she would go anywhere for the wedding as long as she could lay down the back seat with a bottle of whiskey). Charlotte said they wanted something “non-traditional that lent itself more to ‘big party’ than ‘stuffy reception'” so they chose Sleeping Child Hot Springs in Darby.
There were a couple of notable DIY elements to this wedding which I loved. All of the desserts were handmade, including a real wedding cake that Charlotte baked in SE Washington and iced in Hamilton. Charlotte also made her invitations by hand on a 19th century letterpress! So cool!
Even if I had time limits on my coverage, there is no way I would have left before guests made their way into the pools at a hot springs wedding. It was dark and I really pushed my camera’s capabilities, but it was so worth it for the photos and for my own swim! What a wonderful idea to have your wedding at hot springs!
