Amelie + Nick’s Flathead Lake Wedding

Amelie and Nick weren’t sure they wanted a stateside wedding (they have a bigger celebration planned in France next year), but their plans for a courthouse ceremony quickly grew a little to a lakeside wedding at his mother and stepfather’s house in Montana. Amelie’s family did not have time to make travel arrangements from France, but fortunately Nick is proficient at live video and was able to stream the ceremony on the dock as well as the toasts afterwards. It’s really fun to see how technology can bring families together across continents – and enjoyable to figure out how to photograph it. Nick’s sister, Meghan, brought some French wedding traditions to life for the couple, including homemade French onion soup (with the best baguettes in Montana!) and the French version of a cake, which was a dome of cream puffs held together with drizzled caramel (she carried that structure ON the airplane!). I would really like to see that tradition take hold in the U.S!
