I have seen a lot of interesting things during the last couple years as I’ve been pushing my couples to take advantage of my all day coverage. Usually this extends the day in the morning with an activity, but for Ashley and Tim, I was able to witness their private vows to each other. Everyone has a different meaning and motivations for their wedding day; for Ashley and Tim the day there was a delicate balance between time to themselves and family and friend obligations. They didn’t feel comfortable saying the deepest, most heartfelt feelings towards each other in front of 100 people, so the three of us went off early and they said these things privately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just after this we scouted out a location for their first look later that afternoon I knew was also going to be where we’d do our evening portraits. It’s been a few years since I’ve photographed a wedding in Pullman, but fortunately things have not changed and the wheat fields are still just a couple minute drive away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were so many things I loved about this wedding. Many are in one of the most moment\/documentary-rich slideshows I’ve ever made, but some other stories are also worth mentioning. I was warned about Ashley and Tim’s rescue dog, River. She apparently doesn’t like dress shoes or, more accurately, me. River barked incessantly at me, including when I tried to go to the bridesmaid’s side of the ceremony. This actually disrupted the ceremony and I quickly adjusted and had to figure out how to shoot the groomsmen and groom without infringing too much upon River’s turf. It was both amusing and challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also of note was that Ashley’s dress broke shortly after the ceremony. The straps were tenuous to begin with, but the serial hugging was just too much for them and the right strap gave way. This necessitated an emergency sewing job by her mother and more casual hugging throughout the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
