Mariandrea and Nikolas were married in the San Jose Church (Iglesia de San José) in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Their ceremony was Catholic, which is typical for a Puerto Rican wedding. What was unusual about this wedding, however, was the access I was given to the altar. It is very rare for a photographer to be allowed onto the altar, so I tried to maximize my access while being respectful. I waited until just the right moment, when the priest was doing communion, to grab this photo of the couple enjoying a small moment together while the guests and bridal party were enveloped in communion behind them.
