Emily and Sam were married in the backyard of Emily’s parents’ house in Bel Air, in the same space where her parents were married on May 14th, 1983. Just as back then, a “stage” for the ceremony was built over top the pool, all masterfully planned and coordinated by Frannie Felder Hudson of Hudson Productions. They even built huge sliding gates so the guests could enjoy cocktail hour on the lawn while the space was flipped for the dinner. I’ve included some detail photos of the gorgeous dinner setup below.
I first met Emily four years ago at Anna + Sam’s wedding in Granada, Nicaragua, which was probably the wildest wedding of my career. So I had some built-in expectations for Emily and Sam, and I was not disappointed. From their beautiful rehearsal at A.O.C. to Emily’s family vacuuming up rain water the morning of the wedding to their hilarious and touching ceremony, the two days I spent with them were some of my favorites of the year. I struggled to cut photos to get their slideshow to a reasonable length and, arguably, I failed on that, but it’s very worth a watch. Many of the photos you’ll see were taken by the inimitable Annie Bang, a local to LA and, conveniently, one of the best documentary wedding photographers in the world.
